Bob Dylan's Dream

single channel HD video,  1:36min, 2012

Description:

The video consists of only one shot and the last two verses of Woody Guthrie’s song “This land is your land” supposedly sung by the young Bob Dylan. Inside a run-down mattress workshop in Bushwick, Brooklyn a live sized puppet resembling the old man Bob Dylan dressed in a tuxedo is lying on a pile of mattresses with its eyes closed. There is no movement except for the wind moving a golden blanket on which the puppet lies.

The verses and the chorus are:

This land is your land, this land is my land

From California to the New York Island

From the Redwood Forest, to the Caribbean waters

This land is made for you and me

I roamed and I rambled and I followed my footsteps

All along the sands of the diamond deserts

And as I rambled a voice came chanting

This land was made for you and me.

Nobody living can make me turn back,
As I go walking this freedom highway;

Nobody living can make me go back

This land was made for you and me.
