In the installation “A Hard Rain” hand drawn rain falls on projected black and white slides. The slides show images from different decades, people, rooms, landscapes and objects. They are a
glimpse into a life, a story, a relationship that remains unknown. Using a simple motor-powered device, the still images are overlaid with a vertically moving drawing of small parallel
strokes.
This is complemented by a soundscape in which a repetitive, processed extract of Bob Dylan‘s song „A Hard Rain‘s A-Gonna Fall“ is featured. The overlay of these three layers, static image, moving
image and sound become a sort of walk in construct of a narration.
In der Rauminstallation „A Hard Rain“ fällt gezeichneter Regen auf die Projektion schwarzweisser Dia-Aufnahmen. Die Bilder zeigen Aufnahmen aus verschiedenen Jahrzehnten, Menschen, Räume,
Landschaften, Gegenstände. Ein Einblick in ein Leben, eine Geschichte, eine Beziehung, die unbekannt bleiben. Während die Bilder starr bleiben, bewegt Permanetter die hart gezeichneten Striche
des Regens über eine eigens entwickelte Apparatur. Dazu wiederholt sich eine Tonspur, in der immer wieder ein deformierter Auszug aus Bob Dylans Song „A Hard Rain‘s A-Gonna Fall“ auftaucht. Die
Überlagerung dieser drei Ebenen aus starrem und bewegtem Bild und Ton wird zu einer Art begehbaren Konstruktion von Narration.
